This largely comes down to improved penetration performance. Generally speaking, in this game British battleships have improved HE shells compared to the battleships of other nations. Do British BBs have any better HE (or AP) than anyone else?.So Warspite's HE behaves about what you would expect a 381mm HE shell to do without any bonuses. They do not have increased HE penetration like the other British battleships.

No, unlike most of the other British battleships, Warspite (and Hood) have normal HE shells. First, is the HE ammo in my Warspite anything special?.

Thanks for any explanation on these questions and especially for any clarification on the final one/armor pen thing. Is there a rule of thumb for when to use HE vs a cruiser when in a BB, as far as difference between tiers? I know there has lately been a lot of talk about armor thickness changes but I don't really get it. If I use AP they just seem to do little or no damage (probably due to overpen?) But if I use HE very little damage seems to result when I hit. I find lately that I run into a lot of situations where I can't seem to damage cruisers much with my BBs. Same question, basically, for German BBs and cruisers.įinally, and most importantly, as far as HE vs AP selection. I wonder if some of you might be willing to answer a couple of questions about ammo.įirst, is the HE ammo in my Warspite anything special? Do British BBs have any better HE (or AP) than anyone else?

I love playing this game but I don't have as much time as I'd like to read up/study things, to say nothing of actual play time.
